This painting was given an Award of Excellence at the 2024 Sooke Fine Arts Show. This painting was inspired by a visit to Florencia Bay near Ucluelet BC. After descending the long staircase connecting the trail to the beach I was met with a serene view of sunbeams lighting up a large rock exposed by the tide. The light made it seem to be more than just an ordinary rock, that it somehow transcended its earthly existance and became otherworldly and beautiful, then the light moved on and it was a rock again.
